The Bulletin – Edition 23
It has been as wonderful as ever to welcome back all pupils to the Pre-Prep & Prep this week, for a busy and very thrilling summer term ahead! Mrs Tinkler and Mrs Murphy have pulled out all the stops to plan a range of visits, and events for everyone here over the coming weeks. Mrs Tinkler has put her heart and soul into the Year 6 Boys Leavers’ Programme. Even by our own very high standards, this term’s events are hugely varied, bound to be great fun and are naturally all designed to support the Year 6 boys’ transition to Senior School in September.
As promised by me at the end of last term, school offers for Year 6 boys for September are now all in, so do please follow this link to see their excellent outcomes this year:
PREP
Assembly themes for this term:
In assembly at the Prep on Wednesday and in assembly at the Pre-Prep on Thursday I shared our assembly themes for this term. It seems only fitting, given the impending national celebrations planned for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, that the theme for this half term is ‘Royal Britain’. The United Kingdom is a nation of diverse perspectives, with plenty of people living here whose roots are embedded elsewhere. I am one of them! It therefore felt right to us that the assembly theme for the second half of term should be ‘The Cultures of Britain’. We are already looking forward to learning more about what it means to live in such an exciting, historically fascinating and culturally diverse country as ours in our assemblies over the coming weeks.
‘Bling your Bike’ Competition:
As the sunny days arrive we are anticipating boys in the Prep may choose to cycle to school. With this in mind, Mrs Tinkler thought it would be a terrific idea to run a competition to encourage boys to get creative and ‘Bling their Bike’!
She would like boys to decorate their bike at home and cycle to school on Friday 29 April. PC Steve Burke, who is the Youth Engagement & Schools Sergeant for Richmond upon Thames will be helping to judge the ‘blingiest’ bikes. He has a number of bike ‘anti-theft’ marking kits and will mark the winning bikes himself. ‘Anti-theft’ bike marking helps the police and retailers to identify and verify the legitimate owners of bikes that have been stolen or are being illegally resold.
Mrs Tinkler has explained to the boys in the Prep that our friends, Gemma and Adam at Birdie Bikes (just at the end of Wensleydale Road), have lots of lovely blingy bits and pieces. Do pop in to see them after school and tell them Mrs Tinkler sent you. They will be happy to help. Do also consider how boys might be able to add some homemade bling of course!
Pre-Prep
A word from Mrs Murphy
The new term has got underway very smoothly indeed; all the children have returned to school ready and eager to embark on the term ahead. I absolutely love the summer term but fear the academic year will be over in a blink of the eye, as they always seem to be far, far busier than all the rest what with outings, transition events, sports day and concerts to name but a few! Hopefully you will have received my letter detailing events that involve Pre-Prep children (Kindergarten – Year 2). Moving forward, we will make sure that my letters and general reminders are posted on the noticeboard outside to act as a prompt for significant events occurring during the term ahead.
