This week in assembly we have been fortunate once again to have a visitor come in and talk to the boys about the generosity of spirit that prompted him to pursue his passion for establishing and running charities which support a number of excellent causes including animal welfare and child health, welfare and education. Dr Joe Giordano, a family friend of Prep pupil Ethan Vara, was an inspiration to us all. He helped boys to reflect upon the charitable endeavours they have already taken part in, and how they might continue to do so in the future.
Both Mme Houghton in her assembly on Wednesday and the boys in 6Be in their assembly this morning continued to explore our theme of ‘Looking After Others’. Mme Houghton shared her inspirational message regarding the work of Mother Teresa and Sister Emmanuelle, and the Year 6 boys highlighted the work of the NHS and the other emergency services we all rely on here in the UK. There was plenty of opportunity for us to consider how fortunate we are that so many individuals in our communities give up so much, often putting their lives on the line as part of their role in caring for us and our society. I explained to the boys how grateful I am for the work of our emergency service personnel. Do please encourage your children to discuss how grateful they might feel too.
