In maths, we have been continuing to learn about subtraction.  We used a variety of methods to aid this learning – using our fingers, counting back on a number line, and using tens frames to help us calculate ‘how many left’.  It would really benefit the children to have plenty of exposure to practical opportunities to practise their new subtraction skills at home. For example, “If mummy has 6 grapes and she gives two to you, how many will she have left?” The children could then have the opportunity to record this in a number sentence.

In Life Skills this week, we have learnt some top tips on how to make new friends: such as how to start a conversation in the playground, or involve new friends in games.  We know that these skills will help us enjoy our time at school even more.

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas, and we look forward to seeing the children back at school and raring to go for the Spring term.
