We hope the website has answered many of your questions, but we do encourage you to visit the School and meet staff and pupils. We have listed below some of the most frequently asked questions, but please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions team at Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School, if you require further information.
Frequently asked questions
What opportunities are there to visit the School?
The School offers at least one Open Morning every term. Please check the date of the next Open Morning.
How should I prepare my son for the Prep School entrance assessments?
Past papers are not available and no special preparation is required, however, the commercially available 7+ reasoning papers can provide useful practice. We do not recommend tutoring, our papers are designed to identify potential and we are looking for naturally bright boys.
What age do boys attend Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep?
Boys can join the Pre-Prep in the September following their third birthday and remain until the end of Year 6.
There is a second opportunity to join via our 7+ assessment as we increase our year group size in Year 3, from one form to two.
What age do girls attend Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep?
Girls can join the Pre-Prep in the September following their third birthday and remain until the end of Year 2. The Head of Pre-Prep will work closely with parents to identify schools for the next stage of your daughter’s education.
Where do Year 6 boys move onto for secondary school?
Supporting parents and pupils through the process of transferring to a Senior School at 11+ is one of our core functions. We strongly believe there is no such thing as the best school, rather the right school for each individual boy.
Close and careful consideration of next school choice – and how to ensure each individual boy is as best prepared as he can be for the rigours of competitive entry to senior schools through the 11+ examination process – involves as much art as science.

Do pupils get guranteed entry to Hampton School?
A number of our boys move onto Hampton School gaining places through the Assured Place Scheme or via the Hampton School 11+ Entrance Examination.
The Assured Place Scheme is operated by the Hampton School Trust and provides an opportunity for boys attending Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep to secure a place at Hampton School in advance of the normal 11+ entrance examination timings.
As boys must reach a qualifying standard, there is no guarantee that boys attending Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep will automatically gain an Assured Place to Hampton School. Equally, there is no expectation that boys move onto Hampton School
