Rugby
The season has started, and, coincidentally, the weather has turned wet and cold. This hasn’t stopped the boys this week, as they have thrown themselves into rugby training. For those boys playing contact, we have started with a gentle start to tackling on the pads in the warmth of the James Hall. Year 5 have taken steps to understand the mystical art of the ruck, and Year 4 progressed to tackling each other in games played today. It’s been great to see the boys’ efforts, embracing the conditions and finishing the sessions with smiles on their faces, not to mention quite a bit of mud!
Next week, we will host our annual training fixtures with Bishopsgate School. These sessions offer a valuable opportunity for our boys to receive intensive coaching and work through different phases of play over 90 minutes with another school. While these fixtures may sound like a wonderful opportunity to come and watch, we kindly ask please that parents refrain from spectating on this occasion. This is not because we don’t want you to enjoy seeing the boys play some fantastic rugby, but because these fixtures are designed to function more like extended lessons. There will be frequent pauses, coaching discussions, and opportunities for the boys to reflect on their progress, making it a less typical match experience. We look forward to welcoming you to watch matches later in the season, where your support will be greatly appreciated. For now, we kindly request then, that parents do not attend these training fixtures next week. However, boys may be collected from the away fixture as usual. Please keep an eye on the fixture emails for further details.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
