Last term, School Council worked hard to support two wonderful charities: Love to Read and The Lighthouse, as well as the annual support of Children in Need. At the start of the Christmas break, I had the privilege of delivering the children’s generous donations of toiletries and Christmas jumpers to The Lighthouse in Woking. I’m delighted to share that their efforts were warmly received, and the donations brought great joy as you can see in the photo below.
A new term, a new focus to bring a freshness to our assemblies. The children were introduced to our theme for the term: ‘Technology’ yesterday. We’ll be exploring this concept from various perspectives, delving into what it means for us and for others. In assembly on Friday, we also shared some of our resolutions for the year ahead. While some of us admitted feeling apprehensive about achieving our goals, we agreed to support and encourage one another along the way!
Given that we’ve only been back at school for a few days, Star Awards and the Courtesy Cup and Badge were not awarded this week. Rest assured, they will resume next week. However, we celebrated the following achievements: Henry (Year 2) and Archie (KG) recently received new badges at swimming – 25m badge for Henry and Duckling Stage 2 badge for Archie, Bodie (Year 1) has achieved red belt in judo and orange belt in kickboxing and Vrushank (Year 1) was recognised for his super contributions to Perform Drama. Many congratulations to all!
Hopefully, you will have received the beginning of term letter outlining important forthcoming events – if you haven’t then please do contact the School Office. An event to flag early, as I know it creates extra workloads for parents, is World Book Day on 6 March. On this day, the children may come to school dressed as their favourite book character and we would like them to bring along the book depicting their chosen character. Also, if possible, please do send in a photograph of your child reading at home, or when out and about, for a new ‘Look Who’s Been Caught Reading’ display in the library – we thank you in advance for your help and support, as we know that such requests cause added stress to busy lives!
Have a super weekend.
