Over the years, School Council have been pivotal in bringing about positive change to our school community and, not only this, have also been hugely supportive of charities – locally, nationally and internationally.  I am confident our new councillors will carry on this tradition, and I look forward to hearing their ideas and suggestions.

On Thursday, Mr Smith delivered a thought-provoking assembly exploring the pivotal role horses have played in the development and advancement of human civilisation and technology. He highlighted how, although their use in farming and other heavy industries has largely been replaced by modern technologies, the domestication of horses thousands of years ago profoundly shaped human progress in countless ways.  He also shared fascinating insights into how early riders adapted their clothing for practicality and comfort, leading to the invention of bifurcated garments—what we now know as trousers!

We have also announced new House and Vice Captains for the term ahead, and Mr Smith was on hand to distribute their badges:  York (Green): Varun (House Captain) and Oscar F (Vice Captain); Windsor (Yellow): Lucas (House Captain) and Henry MJ (Vice Captain); Tudor (Blue): Kostya (House Captain) and Oscar S (Vice Captain); and Lancaster (Red): Noah (House Captain) and Henry H (Vice Captain).

The Courtesy Cup and Badge this week went to: Tristan (Year 2) for being such a bright spark in the classroom, and for being such a kind, loyal friend.

Stars of the Week went to the following:

Year 2:  Noah for playing such a pivotal role in the life of Year 2 and the school as a whole.  Noah approaches every lesson with determination and enthusiasm.

Year 1: Finn for superb focus and effort, especially in maths when learning about tens and ones.  Keep up the brilliant work!

Reception: Oscar for his lovely neat independent writing about penguins and fabulous drawings.

Many congratulations to Charles (Year 2) for his orange blue belt and Louis (Reception) for his orange yellow belt, both in Martial Arts.  We also congratulated Joseph (Reception) for his Learn to Swim 1 award.

Have a super weekend.
