In circle time we discussed how in the story said, ‘we may be fish but, in this class, we swim together.’  We talked about our differences and how we sometimes find things trickier than our friends.  We went around the circle complementing our neighbour on a strength or quality they showed regularly. Lots of smiles all round! We do have a very special, thoughtful group.  Please find their compliments in their bags.

You many have spotted a fishy theme in our class windows too. The pupils have been hard at work making a stained-glass aquarium for all to enjoy!

We played a game to learn some prepositions by looking at a colourful picture of an under the sea scene and describing where the different fish were using ‘above, in front of, behind, next to and under’. They did a great job!

In Maths we have been trying to work out what is more or less than a certain number using number lines. The children used these lines to help them work out answers some of which were a little tricky! We have also been tracing the numbers 1-20.

Using plastic sewing needles, we improved our dexterity and fine motor skills sewing and filling fishes with stuffing and sealing with carefully placed stitches. We also got creative with paint, sand and various sea creatures to make an underwater sea scape to imagine we were part of that colourful, sparkling world. They are currently decorating our classroom but will wing their way home later.

It was hugely exciting to do a science experiment with skittles. We placed the skittles around a plate’s edge then poured water onto the plate to create a fabulous rainbow when the colour began to slide off the sweets. Have another go this half term! The children showed great restraint with the sweets in the name of science…

After half term we are looking at everything eco. Please can you save any containers, cereal boxes, clean milk cartons etc sand bring them in so that we can begin to do some junk model recycling in the first week back.

That same week on Friday 6th we have Sports Day which we have already been preparing for. The children are prepped and raring to go, so come and support us if you can. In the meantime, have a lovely half term week wherever you are!
