Their mission is simple: to unite schools, communities and organisations against bullying; promote positive relationships and respect; and provide resources and training to prevent, record and respond effectively.

Together, we explored what it truly means to be an upstander rather than a bystander, i.e. someone who speaks up, shows kindness and supports others when they need it most. The children reflected on how small acts of respect and empathy can create a ripple effect, making our school a safe and happy place for everyone. Our message was simple but powerful: kindness is contagious, and every one of us has the power to make a positive difference.

I am very proud School Council decided to raise money for Children in Need today, a charity that funds many projects across the UK, and often supports children and young people who have experienced bullying first-hand. They will share the total raised in next week’s bulletin.

We were treated to a very special assembly yesterday, led by Mrs Rigby, Head of English at Hampton, who captivated us with an inspiring talk on the importance of reading and the power of books, perfectly linking to this term’s assembly theme. Mrs Rigby took us on a fascinating journey through time, tracing the origins of books back to ancient Mesopotamia and highlighting their enduring impact on human culture. A huge thank you to Mrs Rigby for sharing her passion and knowledge with us – we loved it!

Earlier in the week, the children enjoyed an exciting demonstration by Little Musketeers, led by former Olympian and four-time British Champion James Bevan. He introduced his engaging club inspired by the Olympic sport of fencing. We are delighted that Little Musketeers will join our CCA programme in the spring term and hope the demonstration ‘whet the appetite’ of budding fencers here at Pre-Prep.

We will also be saying a cheerful “Hola!” to Miss Monica, who will launch our new Spanish CCA in January.

We are proud of the diverse CCA programme we have built over the last few years to support pupils’ personal development while allowing them to practise and extend their skills. Pre-Prep pupils enjoy an ever-expanding range of opportunities:  academic clubs such as French, Spanish, Chess and Marvellous Maths; creative pursuits like Pins n’ Needles, Kiddy Cooks, yoga and choir to nurture imagination and self-expression; and sports provision including Karate and Little Musketeers to promote resilience, independence and teamwork.

We believe these experiences help pupils build confidence, explore new interests and develop a strong sense of community.

This week the Courtesy Cup and Badge went to Oscar (Year 1) for starting each day with a cheerful “Good morning, how are you?”  You really make our day brighter, Oscar!  Thank you.

and Stars of the Week were awarded to:

Year 2: Zayn for supersonic reading and enthusiasm to learn.

Year 1: Arnav for excellent effort in our rhyming work this week.

Reception: Ravi for his lovely writing and picture about endangered animals.

We were also delighted to celebrate the following children’s achievements beyond the classroom during this week’s assembly:

Year 2

Zayn was awarded with a certificate for completing his sponsored walk for raising funds for the women and children of Gaza.  He walked an incredible 20,000 steps and raised a whopping £3, 075 – many congratulations on your superb effort.

Year 1

Niam was awarded Player of the Week for playing brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm and working well as part of a team – very well done.

Reception

Alyssa received her Rainbow Distance 5m swimming award and Ozan for his Stage 1 Learn to Swim – fantastic effort both.

You will shortly be receiving a letter about all the planned activities in the run up to Christmas, but I just wanted to flag two incredibly important dates – Kindergarten’s production takes place on Wednesday 26 November at 10.45am at Pre-Prep and Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will perform at Prep on Wednesday 10 December at 2.30pm in The James Hall.

Have a super weekend!
