In maths, our focus has been on using a number line to deepen our understanding of numbers to 20. The children have been finding one more and one less than a given number, identifying numbers that are greater or smaller, estimating where numbers belong on an empty number line, and explaining how they know they have made a “smart guess”. Next week, we will be revisiting the symbols <, =, and > and using them to compare numbers and number sentences.
In science, we explored different types of materials and where we could find them in the classroom. Next week, we will become magnet detectives! The children will investigate a range of objects, predicting and then testing whether they are magnetic.
