World Book Day cast a spell over Pre-Prep & Prep as pupils and staff celebrated the joy of reading in spectacular style. From the very first bell, the school was transformed into a storybook wonderland!

Beloved characters stepped straight from the page of a book and into our corridors. Willy Wonka strolled by with a twinkle in his eye, James proudly rolled along with his Giant Peach, Horrid Henry caused just the right hint of mischief and Harry Potter added plenty of wizarding charm. Elmer the Elephant added a splash of colour, alongside many other wonderfully creative costumes that showcased our pupils’ love of literature.

A joyful parade brought the celebrations together, as pupils proudly showed off their outfits to cheers and applause. Staff joined in the fun too, transforming into a sea of red-and-white stripes as they became Wally for the day, prompting the all-important question: Where’s Wally?

Our Kindergarten pupils were completely captivated as the Hampton Trust Headmaster, Mr Knibbs, joined them for a magical World Book Day reading of The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson. They listened wide-eyed to the tale of the greedy rat who steals from travellers – until a clever duck teaches him an important lesson about kindness and sharing.

It was a truly magical celebration of stories, reminding us all of the power and wonder of books.
