We thoroughly enjoyed listening to the traditional tale ‘The Frog Prince’ and used a word map to help us write about our favourite parts of the story. This activity produced some outstanding pieces of independent writing. Six children moved onto the rainbow for their independence and focus, and one child achieved her second star badge—what a fantastic achievement in Reception! Mr Smith even paid us a surprise visit on Thursday after assembly to admire our wonderful writing display!

In art, we had a ‘ribbit’-ing time learning how to draw frogs by following step-by-step instructions. It was fantastic to see how unique each frog turned out—our fabulous frogs are now proudly displayed in the hallway.

In Mathematics, we have been revisiting our knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes, putting our learning to the test with a fun quiz. We have also been practising addition and subtraction using number lines, helping our frogs ‘jump’ along to find the answers.

Next week, our topic will be ‘Bears’. We would love the children to bring in their favourite bear from home or share a favourite bear story during our show and tell sessions.
