In mathematics, we have been revisiting our knowledge of 2D shapes. The children enjoyed working practically with shapes—exploring, rotating, and manipulating them to complete tangram puzzles and create animals. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and problem-solving skills. Tangrams are a fantastic way to help children explore shape properties and develop spatial reasoning. We have also been recapping how to tell the time, focusing on o’clock and half past.

We have been ‘beary’ creative this week too! Working in pairs, the children designed and made their own “Going on a Bear Hunt” collage maps. It was lovely to see such imaginative ideas and the exciting journeys they created. The children have also enjoyed exploring our new bear cave, playing with bear habitats in the tuff tray, and engaging in outdoor play in our garden area.

Well done to all our Reception children for a fantastic half term filled with such hard work, enthusiasm, and joy in learning. We are so proud of everything you have achieved! We wish you all a wonderful and restful half term holiday.

We look forward to reading all about your adventures — and seeing your holiday snapshots on the children’s return to school.

Our first topic next term is all about ‘Earthworms’ and we will enjoy the story, ‘Superworm’.
