Reception enjoyed a fantastic day out at Bockett’s Farm, where they learnt about animals and life on a farm.
The day began in the animal encounters area, where the children had the opportunity to gently pet a fluffy rabbit, two cuddly guinea pigs and a chicken. They then climbed aboard a tractor for a ride around the farm, spotting flocks of sheep and lambs, herds of cows, including a huge bull, and even pigs enjoying their breakfast in the forest.
The children also visited the barn, where they learned fascinating facts about the animals from the farmer and discovered more about how the farm is cared for.
The excitement continued with the farm’s popular pig race. Reception enthusiastically cheered on their favourite-coloured pigs as they raced towards the finish line. The children then visited the farmer’s garden, where they explored the herbs and vegetables grown for the farm café and learned more about where food comes from.
To finish the day, the children returned to the barn to feed the animals. The hungry sheep and goats were particularly eager for their food and quickly became firm favourites with the group.
