Another highlight of the week, that is, apart from coming back together, has been our celebration of British Science Week. On Wednesday great ‘egg-citement’ ensued courtesy of the NFU, we observed chicks hatching from eggs in incubators. The live lesson proved captivating and we could not believe how quickly chicks develop in comparison to babies, by five months they are fully grown. Our grateful thanks to Mrs Morris, Head of Science, for organising this on our behalf.
Furthermore, towards the end of the week Years 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a virtual talk by Dr Jayia who led a very informative session on the recent success of the vaccination development. We discovered how scientists go about making vaccinations and how bodies react to these once they are in the body. The children put some very interesting questions to Dr Jayia at the end of the talk and she quite rightly served us a very timely reminder about keeping up with the all-important safety precautions, hands – face – space. We really do appreciate her taking time from her busy schedule to address us today.

Our congratulations to Isla (Reception), who very kindly donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through treatment for illnesses or other conditions. Well done, Isla – what an amazing thing to do!
