Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School (then called Denmead School) joined the Hampton School Trust in September 1999. The schools within the Trust are overseen by the same Board of Governors, which includes a Pre-Prep & Prep Committee. The Pre-Prep & Prep Headmaster is a member of the Hampton School Trust Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and is responsible to The Headmaster at Hampton; they meet regularly to discuss the progress of all pupils at the Pre-Prep & Prep School – whether they are progressing to Hampton or not – and other matters of mutual interest.
The close links between the Pre-Prep & Prep and Hampton involve many shared benefits. There is extensive liaison between teaching and support staff at the schools; resources and facilities are shared across the sites. Hampton Prep pupils enjoy use of Hampton’s extensive on-site sports grounds and its professional-standard performance venue, The Hammond Theatre.
A significant number of the Prep’s Year 6 pupils go on to join Hampton each year, subject to meeting the admissions requirements for the senior school. The Trust also runs a Hampton Assured Places scheme for boys from Year 2 until Year 5. More information on the Assured Places scheme can be found via the link below.
Boys also move on successfully from Hampton Prep to other senior schools in the area. These include Halliford School, Kingston Grammar School, Radnor House School, Reed’s School, St George’s College and St James’s School, amongst others. The Hampton Prep staff, in close liaison with parents, use their understanding of each boy to establish which senior school environment will be best suited to him.
