We are, naturally, very glad to be back at school after the Easter break! I hope you all managed to enjoy some time relaxing, alongside enjoying the company of family and friends? This term we have a new assembly theme: Dare to be Different. Mrs Murphy introduced the theme to the Pre-Prep pupils yesterday and I spoke to the boys in the Prep about it on Tuesday. We always make sure here we do not just note but rather celebrate where we can the diverse range of pupils’ approaches to school life. Inherent in this of course is an acknowledgment of difference and the positive impact arising from all sorts of different ways of being and learning.
Allan Curnow, the celebrated New Zealand poet (whose works I can just about recall, having studied them when I was at school and university) said:
“Simply by sailing in a new direction, you could enlarge the world”
We are looking forward, this term, to sailing in all sorts of new and different directions in our assemblies and thus, we hope, developing further everyone’s world view.
