I hope all families enjoyed a really terrific break over the Easter holidays? This week we launched ‘Bright Days’ as our new assembly theme for the term and I must say, it has already sparked some lovely conversations among the pupils in both the Pre-Prep and the Prep. The idea is to explore what lifts us. In other words, what gives us that feeling, however fleeting, of lightness and joy. In assemblies in both the Pre-Prep and Prep this week, I encouraged the children to be on the lookout for small wins, for example the smile from a friend, a good effort on a piece of work, a fun moment in the playground, and to take time at the end of the day to reflect on those. It is often only when we pause and take stock that we realise just how bright our days truly are.
Speaking of bright days ahead, next week will see two exciting residential adventures for our pupils. Year 3 are off to Surrey for two nights, and Year 4 will be heading to Wiltshire for a two-night stay as well. These trips are always such a brilliant opportunity for the boys to experience independence, camaraderie and the thrill of being outdoors We expect they shall come back tired but hopefully happy, and with a few stories of their own ‘bright day’ moments to share at home.
This term is always packed full of events from our Sports Days on (fingers crossed) sunny fields to summer productions in full swing. There is much to look forward to! Both Mrs Murphy and Mrs Howard have written to parents this week, setting out all the key dates and events for the weeks ahead, and we do hope those letters have helped you plot a few things into your diary.
