The possibilities for ‘Open Homework’ are endless.  The children have a whole week to create anything they like inspired by the chosen theme. They could write a poem, craft a story, or develop a character. They might dive into a geographical, historical, or scientific exploration. Some may choose to design a toy, invent a game, or build a 3D masterpiece. Others might whip up a delicious dish, create a stunning piece of art, or design something amazing on the computer. There’s truly no limit, and there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to go about it! The goal is simple: to have fun while learning something new in a way that excites them.

In previous years, the themes – ‘7’, ‘round’, ‘red’, and ‘joy’ – have inspired truly incredible creations, and I know this year will be no different. I can’t wait to see what wonderful ideas and projects the children bring in on Friday 18 October – let’s prepare to be amazed by their imagination and creativity!

Sadly, due to the building works here, we cannot stage the usual Open Homework Exhibition for parents, however, Miss Thompson will be capturing as many of the children’s pieces to make into a short video to share with you after half term.

Year 2 presented an informative and engaging assembly on the topic of ‘football’, showcasing how the sport has evolved over the last century, with ever-growing diversity and the presence of more female footballers once again in recent decades – interestingly, in earlier times, football was actually more popular amongst women, as cricket was the preferred sport for men.  Thank you, Year 2, for a thought-provoking and inspiring conclusion to our week.

This week the Courtesy Cup and Badge went Zaki (Year 1) for brilliant eye contact, whole body listening and general all-round good manners!  What a superstar!

Stars of the Week to:

Year 2: Charles for his creative flair and for settling so well at Hampton Pre-Prep.  Well done, Charles!

Year 1: Wilf for his excellent maths work this week using greater than and less than symbols.  And for always trying his very best.

Reception: Aric for his detailed explanation and excellent scientific understanding during his ‘show and tells’ – thank you, Aric.

Several certificates and awards made this week:  in Year 1, we congratulated Noah for his Perform Bronze Challenge with Distinction and in Year 2, Tristan for his trophy for coming 3rd in his Chess Challenge.

Fair to say, it’s been a very rainy start to the school year, we’ve certainly had an exceptionally wet beginning to the school year and it feels like the rain just keeps coming.  As we do our best to get the children outside for fresh air whenever possible, please ensure your child brings a named coat to school every day. We  aim to enjoy outdoor play and activities in all but the most inclement weather.

A super weekend to you all.
