At school this week, we have therefore been reinforcing vital road safety messages with the children in age-appropriate ways, including:
- Following the Green Cross Code – stop, look, listen and think before crossing.
- Staying alert near roads – avoiding distractions and no talking when crossing.
- Walking safely – keeping to pavements, exercising caution at driveways and never ever running along a pavement.
- Crossing correctly – look right, left, and right again, and only cross when it is safe to do so.
During class discussions and in assembly, we’ve reminded the children to use road safety features designed to help pedestrians cross safely, such as designated crossings points, including zebra and pelican crossings, central islands and footbridges.
Brake is very clear that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Families can help by ensuring children wear bright or reflective clothing, hold hands near traffic, and check vehicles regularly to ensure they are roadworthy.
This week the Courtesy Cup and Badge went to Sowparnika for always following the Golden Rules and showing respect and politeness towards her friends and teachers.
and Stars of the Week were awarded to:
Year 2: Wilf for consistently working hard and showing an outstanding attitude towards learning every single day!
Year 1: Joseph for demonstrating excellent effort and consistently good behaviour in all areas of school life. Every day – what a star!
Reception: Adi for his fabulous painting of an endangered turtle.
Congratulations to Archie (Reception) achieving his Stage 2 swimming badge, and to Clara (Year 2) who was awarded the 25m badge for backstroke swimming.
As you can imagine, the weather this week has caused great excitement here in Pre-Prep! Please ensure your child brings their named school winter coat every day, and that all items of clothing are clearly labelled.
Finally, Love to Read, the charity supported by our school councillors last year, has just launched an auction to boost its funds this year. There are some fantastic lots available, including: an evening at Michelin-starred Trinity in Clapham, a week at Sports Focus Kids Camps, a family ticket to the Jurassic World Experience …and so much more!
The auction link below is now live. Every penny raised will be match funded, so they are naturally very keen to get as many eyes on these amazing lots as possible.
