Pre-Prep certainly made a vibrant sight as they processed through Carlisle Park to join the whole-school costume parade. As you’d expect, a huge variety of bookthemed activities took place throughout Pre-Prep, along with plenty of opportunities for the children to browse, enjoy and talk about books, authors and illustrators.
We were also delighted to welcome so many special visitors. A heartfelt thank you to Kasen’s mummy for sharing a children’s story in Chinese, to Dilraj’s mummy for reading a book in Punjabi, and to Ethan’s mummy for bringing a French favourite to Kindergarten. Hearing the rich variety of home languages spoken by our PrePrep families is always deeply humbling — I am genuinely in awe of the children’s ability to move so confidently between languages.
It was also a real pleasure to welcome Mr Knibbs and his PA, Mrs Espsley, who visited to read to some of our PrePrep children – their visit completed our day beautifully.

Our celebrations began earlier in the week with a visit from children’s author Ged Adamson, who inspired the children with his charming stories and even encouraged them to illustrate just like real artists — a wonderful start to a very special week. We were treated to an early preview of one of his upcoming stories, which won’t be out in shops until June — how lucky we were!

A very big thank you to the HPPPA for supporting School Council’s fundraising efforts through last week’s PreLoved World Book Day Costume Sale. Councillors are thrilled to have received the £40 donation from them, which will be added to money collected on the door. They will share the grand total for WaterAid UK in next week’s bulletin.
On the subject of promoting a friendlier, greener school, we are delighted to welcome four new Year 2 Eco Warriors: Lucas, Finlay, Finn and Simran. They are stepping into the role brimming with ideas to help our planet. We must also say a huge thank you to the outgoing Eco Warriors, Coco, Ed, Zaki and Krishna, who leave the school a noticeably greener place. During their tenure, they introduced fruitwaste bins in each classroom, initiated plans for a replacing the old playground bin (via a pupil vote) for the most popular bin design, and consistently championed the importance of recycling, reducing and reusing rather than simply throwing things away.
Lastly, Reception had a wonderful time at RHS Wisley today and thoroughly enjoyed themselves surrounded by plants big and small. Miss Johnston writes more about the visit, but I am proud to say their behaviour was exemplary throughout — well done, Reception!
This week the Courtesy Cup and Badge went to Henry (Reception) for his consistent efforts in demonstrating good behaviour, manners and politeness. Thank you, Henry.
and Stars of the Week were awarded to:
Year 2: Finlay for coming into school each day with a spring in his step and the best attitude to learn. Thank you, Finlay!
Year 1: Saroop being a star reader this week.
Reception: Akaal for using his phonic skills to write his weekend news.
A further award followed the above: very well done to Finlay (Year 2) who received a medal following his rugby team’s success in the Middlesex County tournament – they won!
Have a fabulous weekend.
