On a different note, our plans to meet together for the Summer Concert and Prize Giving on 1 July unfortunately have to be altered; however, with the help of colleagues from Hampton School, we are aiming to send you a version of the event so you can still enjoy the children’s performances, albeit remotely, as they have been working so hard under the guidance of Miss Bee.

We have been delighted that the artist, Emma Wilcock joined us here in Pre-Prep for two days of art.  From Kindergarten to Year 2, the children have had great fun exploring different media and techniques, working collaboratively to produce two gorgeous displays for the hall – one depicting an ocean scene and the other a rainforest.  Our grateful thanks to Emma and her assistant, Alexa.

Kindergarten enjoyed a visit from Mrs G, a beekeeper, this week and discovered many interesting facts about bees; in particular, how vital they are to our environment.  In conjunction with one of our kind neighbours in Wensleydale Road, the children have created a small pavement planted area, including some plants that we know bees love – do look at the School’s Twitter account to see some pictures.

On this note, Radio 2 has a brand-new competition for children, in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society called the Big Bee Challenge. The competition is for children aged between 6 and 12 and sets the challenge ‘to design a bright, buzzy garden that will attract bees and other pollination insects’ and the winner’s design will be built by the RHS at an NHS Trust site which is used by children and young people with mental health needs – do take a look at the Radio 2 site for greater information.  Entries can be made from Monday 7 June 2021 and the closing date is 6pm on Monday 5 July 2021.  Why not have a go this weekend?

Have a lovely weekend.
