Next week, two official national weeks take place. Firstly, it is Anti-Bullying Week but also Road Safety Awareness Week.  Behaviour is something that is constantly on our minds to ensure that no one falls below our expectations and we always strive for excellence in this area.  The very first of the Golden Rules is ‘do be gentle’ and the second, ‘do be kind and helpful’, unkind words and actions are simply not tolerated here, as well as overly physical rough play. Staggered break times are a thing of the past, so it is important that thoughtfulness, respect and kindness are at the heart of everything we do.  Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will enjoy a series of anti-bullying workshops next week to support these important messages.

Road Safety, on the other hand, will provide us with a great opportunity to talk about the importance of road safety as well as highlighting the value of safe and healthy journeys. Through the week, we will be reminding the children about road and traffic awareness. The theme of Road Safety Week 2021 is Road Safety Heroes, celebrating the heroic work of road safety professionals, and explaining how we can all play a part in making journeys safer for everyone. We are looking forward to a visit from our Junior Travel Ambassadors next week.

Recipient of the Courtesy Cup and Badge this week:  Michael (Year 2) for always greeting the teachers with a cheery “Hello. Good morning, how are you?” – well done and keep up the good effort!

Stars of the Week were awarded to:

Year 2: Ediz for working really hard during our lessons this week – keep it up!

Year 1: Rubah for a wonderful poem about the things he loves to do, together with beautiful handwriting too!

I am delighted to announce that we have recently appointed four school librarians to assist with the smooth running of the library. This is a new initiative at Pre-Prep for our Year 2 children and I know their help with be invaluable to me.  Our librarians this term are: Ediz, Rayan, Zachary and Sendan.

Congratulation to Ediz (Year 2) who was chosen as Player of the day at his football training session on Saturday morning with WMF club; he received this accolade for working hard and playing well within the team.

Many congratulations to Archunan (Year 2) for completing the Green Park running challenge last weekend. He ran 3k without stopping – well done!  Furthermore, he has pledged to give the money raised by his superb efforts to the charity chosen by the School Council this week.

Henry (Year 2) took part in the ‘Wild World Heroes’ challenge by reading six chapter books from his local library – what a fantastic effort.

We also celebrated  Jasper’s (Year 1) achievement in swimming – he has just gained his 5m distance award.  Good effort!
