You will have already received my beginning of term letter via School Post outlining forthcoming events during the Spring Term which concern the children here – if you haven’t then please do contact the School Office. Two occasions I must flag extra early, because I am mindful both create extra workloads for you parents, are World Book Day (Thursday 3 March) and the Easter Bonnets (Friday 25 March last day of term). I thank you in advance for your help and support as I know requests such as these do cause added stress to already busy lives and can be burdensome!
On World Book Day, the children may come to school dressed as their favourite book character and we would like them to bring along the book depicting their chosen character. Please do send in a photograph of your child/children reading at home, or indeed when out and about, for a ‘Look Who’s Been Caught Reading’ display which we will create in the library. Photographs can be emailed directly to admin@hamptonprep.org.uk or alternatively, printed off and delivered to me or your child’s Class Teacher – I am very happy either way.
We would also like to repeat an exercise first done a few years ago, when the children received a letter in school telling them about your personal childhood favourites; it was quite clear how much they enjoyed the whole experience, their faces were a picture when the letters arrived! The letters should be posted to school, at the very latest over half term (address below), so that we have them all ready to be handed to the children to coincide with World Book Day. Perhaps you might like to enlist the support of granny or grandpa, uncles or aunts, cousins or friends, to make this occasion slightly different? Letters should include why it is a particular favourite – favourite character(s), a little of the plot and the reason(s) why the book is so special to you (or others). Again, I thought it would be good to enlist your support early on this one, if you are going to encourage relatives to take part from further afield!
Please send your letters to the following address:

I’m sure it won’t surprise you to learn that having only had two days back at school Star Awards and Courtesy Cup and Badge were not awarded this week but please be assured it starts again next week. Similarly, class round ups will commence next week. We did, however, discuss the brand-new year 2022 in our assemblies this week, discovering how some of the months got their names and a little bit of the history behind the beginning of the Gregorian calendar.
We also celebrated a number of achievements in assembly today. Many congratulations to the following children for their achievements out of school: Zac (Year 1) for achieving distinction in LAMDA Solo Introductory Stage One; Henri and Willem (Reception) for successfully completing badge 5 of the Kingston Gymnastics award scheme; Harry (Year 2) for receiving a rugby club trophy for his amazing effort during the end of term session and Murtaza (Year 1) for his first level of swimming with Patterson’s Penguins – Duckling 1.
Furthermore, last term some children in Year 2 chose to enter a writing competition called, ‘The Poetry Bus’, and those that did were awarded with a ‘Talent for Writing’ certificate and have the opportunity to have their work published. They are as follows: Akhil, Archunan, Caleb, Ayansh, Aryan, Arjun, Harrison, Henry, Jack, Ediz, Jazz, Konark, Max, Lev, Thomas, Michael, Sendan, Rayan, Ralph and Zachary. Well done to all!
Our Spring Term House and Vice Captains were announced today and were awarded with their badges, they are as follows: Lancaster (Red): Jack (House Captain) and Ediz (Vice Captain);
Windsor (Yellow): Sendan (House Captain) and Ayansh (Vice Captain); York (Green): Konark (House Captain) and Rayan (Vice Captain); and Tudor (Blue): Ralph ( House Captain) and Lev (Vice Captain).
