I don’t know if you have been watching our twitter account, if so you will have seen what a ‘greenfingered’ bunch we have in Reception.  Their garden is looking splendid to say the least with sweet peas, runner beans and tomatoes.  Earlier in the week they harvested their crop of potatoes and no less than 100 were safely gathered in but, of course, they didn’t leave it there – they cooked up a storm in the kitchen and made the most delicious potato salad.  Lucky me, I was served up a portion too and I can declare it was scrumptious!

Time has also been spent dodging the very hot weather – on this note, please do make sure your child has their blue school cap with them in school.  A hat shields one from the sun’s harmful, sunburn-causing rays and, in fact, most dermatologists recommend wearing a hat in addition to slathering on suncream. Please do consider buying one from the school shop before the end of term –  I have no doubt it will come in useful in September when we return to school.

Don’t forget the two important dates I shared last week –  Open Classrooms at Pre-Prep (Wednesday 6 July) and the Pre-Prep Summer Concert and Prize Giving (Thursday 7 July at 9.30am in the James Hall).  We are hoping to see you at both!

One final piece of very, very exciting news – Miss Horton has successfully completed her initial teacher training course and has been awarded QTS status. I know you will all join me offering her our heartiest congratulations for this fantastic achievement.

The Courtesy Cup and Badge went to Chuck (Reception) for his beautiful manners and kindness towards his friends.

Stars of the Week went to the following children:

Year 2: Harry for working extremely hard this week in all his lessons.

Year 1: Ollie for writing a brilliant menu for our teddy bears’ picnic! Super use of adjectives.

Many congratulations also go to Arthur (Reception) for his participation at Little Ninjas, he was awarded the ‘Middle Block’ badge in karate. Also, many congratulations to Isla (Year 1) for her Learn to Swim, Stage 3  – well done!
