Staff here will be dressing up as characters from Julia Donaldson’s collection of stories – the Gruffalo, the Highway Rat, the Smee and Smoo, the witch and her cat from ‘Room on a Broom’ or perhaps even Princess Mirror-Belle to name but a few! If you are unsure what to dress your child in on the day, please do feel free to join our merry band celebrating the fabulous works of Julia Donaldson. Many of the children like donning costumes to celebrate their favourite Superheroes, however, we would urge you to resist this route – all-in-one costumes in this style make for an awkward time for the child/children concerned, as it is so very tricky for them to manage their comfort breaks during the day! Mrs Sheaff and I will be writing in greater detail about our plans for the day but half term provides the perfect opportunity to start planning your child/children’s costume.
Today we were treated to another fabulous assembly, this time led by Reception who focused on our current theme Global Religious Beliefs. In this, they explained the origins of World Religion Day and shared key information about certain faiths. Along the way, they demonstrated how the different religions share many similarities and key values.
The recipient of the Courtesy Cup and Badge this week went to Noah (Reception) for consistently polite manners to friends and teachers, and always following the Golden Rules.
and Stars of the Week to the following pupils:
Year 2: Maxwell for settling so well into Year 2 and for a superb diary entry based on “The Whales’ Song.”
Year 1: Ariyan for demonstrating brilliant reasoning skills in our maths lessons this week.
