We were all amazed by the special Gurudwara, the Golden Temple – Harmander Sahib; it was so beautiful. Added to this, we learnt how services are conducted in temples. A personal standout for me was Karam giving a short burst of what Kirtan can sound like; he played the tabla so beautifully and, furthermore, recited the opening section of the Guru Granth Sahib, called the Mool Mantra, with such composure and confidence. Our very grateful thanks to Karam and his mummy for such an interesting assembly.
Liz Million also visited Pre-Prep this week, albeit remotely all the way from Darlington in County Durham. An accomplished illustrator and author of children’s books, Liz explained all about her work and better still showed us how to draw! She led sessions with all classes here and they had the greatest of fun. Do ask your child about it – perhaps they will draw you something this weekend having been given plenty of top tips from Liz today.
Safer Internet Day will soon be upon us, and the children will have a series of workshops on the day led by OpenView Education. Added to this, we have Peter Cowley, the Lead Adviser for Online Services and Safety for Achieving for Children, delivering a parental talk on online safety. The talk takes place online via MS Teams at 7.30pm on Tuesday 7 February to coincide with Safer Internet Day 2023. Please do come along if you possibly can, Peter is an excellent speaker and better still is completely up to date with what is happening in the online word and with particular reference to our local area.
Mr Salt has recently written to parents in Years 1 and 2 about House Cross Country which takes place next Friday (10 February). As per my beginning of term letter, it is important for you to note, the children will be taken back to Pre-Prep once they have completed the course, therefore, our collection arrangements remain as normal. If, however, you would like your child to remain with you for the remainder of the afternoon, perhaps to watch older siblings run their races, then please do let your child’s Class Teacher know in advance. Also, please note book bags / bicycles / scooters will remain at school on the day rather than coming to Carlisle Park with us!
The recipient of the Courtesy Cup and Badge this week – Anne (Year 1) for delightful manners, and for trying her very best in her work.
and Stars of the Week to the following pupils:
Year 2: Kit for fabulous investigating skills in our science lessons and for being a kind and considerate partner.
Year 1: Aran for a wonderful persuasive sentence, using conjunctions and an exclamation mark!
Reception: Ottilie for always being a kind and thoughtful friend and keeping the Golden Rules.
It was clearly a weekend of sporting achievements for pupils in Year 2! On the football pitch, Frank won Man of the Match – he came on in the second quarter and scored 2 goals for his team and Christo won Man of the Match at Sutton United – he made lots of attacks in the first quarter. Alfred was awarded a medal when attending a training event at Wasps last week and was commended for his listening, determination and for trying his best. Very well done to all!
Have a super weekend!
