I was delighted to see and hear how much information the children have absorbed during the course of this term and it was also impressive to see the connections they made to our core values here at Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep. Our grateful thanks to Dr Momin for giving up his precious time on Monday. Once again, I cannot express how grateful I am to our parental community for sharing their wisdom, expertise and lived experiences with us. I also just wanted to add my thanks for your patience in bearing with me with keeping hold of your beautiful wedding photographs – I promise all are safe and sound, and very shortly we shall be using these in a forthcoming assembly.

On Tuesday our School Council met for the second time this term and have some very exciting ideas bubbling away.  The two Year 2 councillors, Hari and Jasper have written to Mr Smith to seek his permission for the go ahead, so at this stage all I can say is watch this space.  We will be supporting our friends in Prep with their endeavours to raise money on Wednesday 1 March by selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts for Animal Shelter; I know you have been informed by the School Office about this already via SchoolPost by just wanted to flag we are doing the same here next week.

Don’t forget this is the last weekend to arrange costumes for World Book Day when we shall all be dressing up across the School.  As you will know from previous years, we do like stretching out this event and this year is no exception.  Reception will be visiting Hampton Library, Year 2 will be visiting the Roald Dahl museum and the author Alison Simpson will be visiting us on Friday. Along with this, the Travelling Book Fair visits Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep next week and you will have received information about this via SchoolPost very recently.  It is my strong preference that you visit the book fair with your child / children to browse and select books together, the reason being, you know exactly what books are already on your bookcase, your spending cap and the genre you happy for your purchase.  That said, I recognise that this will be impossible for some and we are very happy to take these children over to Prep to visit the fair.  Please do send in money as per the instructions in the letter in order for us to do this on your behalf.

The recipient of the Courtesy Cup and Badge this week was Tobi (Reception) for ALWAYS being so kind and helpful to his friends and teachers.  We appreciate you, Tobi!

and Stars of the Week went to the following pupils:

Year 2: Hari for being such a kind buddy and for making the most of his learning time – every single day!

Year 1: Charles for all round effort this week – keep up the good week!

Reception: Seby for always being such a fabulous partner during our ‘talking partner’ activities.

We celebrated many achievements in yesterday’s assembly with Mr Smith present to hand over the various certificates and medals.  In Year 2, we congratulated the following:  Adam for his excellent footballing skills – he was named as ‘Player of the Week’ for his relentless effort on the pitch, chasing every ball and motivating his team mates but, additionally, for his LAMDA Entry 3 certificate, he achieved a merit along with many super comments from the examiner; Alfred for winning two golden boots in the tournament at football camp during half term and a medal; and Max for also gaining a golden boot.  In Year 1, very well done to Willem for his Player of the Week certificate from Half Backs.  In Reception, we celebrated Seby’s certificate from the Bike Academy, for successfully completing the Learn to Cycle course.

We also took the opportunity to congratulate all of our cross-country runners in Years 1 and 2 who completed the House cross-country course on Friday 10 February so brilliantly; it was a heart-warming sight and I commend each and every child on their efforts during their races. The following received certificates for their success on the day:  Year 2Julian (gold), Adam (silver) and Rory (bronze) and in Year 1George (gold), Willem (silver) and Henri (bronze).

Have a super weekend!
