There were plenty of “bonjours,” buttery pastries, and brilliant French accents as Year 4 transformed the hall into their very own bustling French café for a special breakfast celebration with families.
Pupils confidently introduced key French vocabulary and phrases, proudly showing off the pronunciation skills they have been perfecting this term. From cheerful greetings to ordering breakfast en français, Year 4 embraced their roles as café hosts.
Families quickly discovered they weren’t just there for breakfast. They were put to the test in a series of fast-paced language games involving memory and pronunciation, with pupils confidently leading the activities. There was fierce competition over matching challenges, lots of laughter over attempted accents, and plenty of enthusiastic participation from grown-ups who quickly realised Year 4 were the true language experts in the room.
Croissants and pain au chocolat were served up to hungry visitors, with orders taken en français, of course. Families chatted over breakfast, and by the end of the morning there wasn’t much left besides crumbs and very happy faces – a true “miam miam” moment for everyone involved.
