House Rugby provided a fitting and spirited finale to a fabulous term of rugby, bringing the school together for an afternoon of competition, camaraderie and no small measure of resilience.
Given the wintry conditions that have defined much of the season, it seemed almost appropriate that proceedings were briefly interrupted by a sudden hailstorm. Fortunately, the disruption was short-lived, and before long the skies cleared, allowing the boys to return to the field with undiminished enthusiasm.
What followed was a superb display of school rugby at its best. Across all age groups, matches were characterised by passion, skill and excellent teamwork. Committed tackling, powerful running and intelligent support play were evident throughout, with every House competing with determination and pride. The vibrant House colours of green, blue, red and yellow brought real energy to Carlisle Park, adding to the sense of occasion.
As the competition unfolded, York and Tudor emerged as the leading contenders, closely matched on games won. In the end, it was Tudor who edged ahead, amassing the highest number of points overall to secure the House Rugby Cup.
Congratulations to Tudor House on a well-deserved victory, and to all pupils for their effort, sportsmanship and contribution to such an enjoyable and memorable afternoon.
