In our bakery role-play area, we’ve had a great time pretending to be bakers and customers, taking turns to buy and sell delicious treats! We also played with ginger and cinnamon-scented playdough, and the smell was so yummy that we had to remind ourselves it was just playdough! We also made our own moveable gingerbread men, carefully cutting out the pieces and using split pins to put them together. We started painting our gingerbread men too and can’t wait to add the finishing touches next week!

This week was also Road Safety Week, and we’ve been learning how to stay safe when crossing the road. We read Super Cat’s Road Safety and learned that we must always STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, and THINK before crossing.  We discovered that pelican and zebra crossings are there to help us stay safe, but the most important thing is still to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, and THINK before we cross.

On Wednesday, we had an exciting trip to the local bakery! We went in search of gingerbread reindeer, which we had heard were very tasty. Each of us took some money and went into the shop to ask politely for our treat. The staff in the bakery said we had fantastic manners and were very polite! After carefully carrying our gingerbread reindeer back to school in paper bags, we packed them in our bookbags to take home and enjoy.

We are excited to continue our Gingerbread Man theme next week!
