Thanks to parents who donated their old boxes and milk cartons – the pupils have had a great time using their imagination to create new junk models. I have had many presents offered held together with tape, glue and made with fabulous creativity! We also physically sorted our boxes and cartons to ensure we all understood what plastic and cardboard look like.
We have also been revising our shapes by making refuse lorries with shape stamps. You might recognise the driver!
The children are all holding a pencil well to draw and shape letters and have loved working with Let’s Get Squiggling- the interactive game which has captivated the children and spurred them on to improve dexterity and fine motor skills whilst having lots of fun.
Great excitement! Our caterpillars arrived….four very lazy caterpillars and one we have nicknamed Speedy as he is always moving up the jar. We are waiting with bated breath to see how they grow and what becomes of them. These are for our new topic on minibeasts next week.
Our preparations for Sports Day have been in full swing. It is quite tricky to remember the many instructions required for a relay race, but we have had lots of fun practising! As I write- I have heard that the day has been postponed to next Thursday. Please let me know if you plan to take your child home straight after it next week for our register and for planning purposes that afternoon – thank you.
Finally, the letter ‘Y’ has been our focus for literacy this week. See how many things/words you can name at the weekend that start with this letter!
Well done to Archie Hewitson who won player of the week at Hampton Hill Cricket Club and was presented with a fabulous medal for his batting skills! Well done, we are proud of you.
