We then went on a minibeast hunt in groups in the playground. We found snails, ants, flies, slugs and even saw a bee when the sun finally came out! I was super happy about this as next week’s topic is all about wonderful bees.
We learned all about slugs and snails too, learning some interesting and weird facts.
Our number work has ranged from counting spots on ladybirds, to learning ‘one more’ and even adding several numbers to a set number. We used farm animals to assist our adding, and some were even able to do it in their head. I was so proud of their concentration and efforts.
On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from Nick Stebbings who teaches Maths at the senior school. He has written a book and came in to do an interactive session with kindergarten while reading his book – Dr Ray and Her Magical Patients. Several children were keen to act as doctors and even a bunny to bring the book alive.
A few other activities we have done this week include; practising writing our letters in sand having practised with, playing with blue foam and improving our pencil skills and hand strength with a bee themed dough disco.
Of course, Sports Day was the highlight of the week, and I have to say all the children not only behaved so well but clapped for others and remembered instructions brilliantly, but best of all had lots of fun.
Please remember that next Friday the children are asked to come dressed as a wild animal. Please bring in £2 for charity. It should be a great day.
Enjoy this sunny weekend. If it runs into next week, please remember hats and water bottles for playtime. See you on Monday!
