This week, we’ve also been learning all about bread — from field to bakery. We followed the journey from the farmer sowing seeds to grow wheat, to harvesting and milling it into flour. We even examined some real wheat up close. The highlight of the week was making our very own bread rolls. We enjoyed it so much that we’ve decided to try baking bread next week!
We had great fun playing with flour, using all sorts of pots, pans and cups to scoop, pour and tap the mixture. There was plenty of imaginative play as the children created their own yummy concoctions, leaving a light dusting of flour all around!
We also enjoyed making our own hen masks using scissors and sellotape, then used them to act out the story with our friends. Using our hands, paint and oil pastels, we created beautiful Little Red Hen pictures, which will soon be on display in our classroom.

We continue to learn about the Golden Rules and revisited “Do Be Kind and Helpful” and “Do Be Honest.” We also talked about the importance of “listening first time” to both our friends and teachers.
Next week, our topic will be The Enormous Turnip — we’re looking forward to another exciting week of learning!
