In art, the children created their own caterpillar masterpieces by printing with inflated balloons dipped in paint, adding sticky eyes and using a black marker to bring their colourful creatures to life.
We discussed the different minibeasts that we may find in our garden or in the park, we found out that insects have 6 legs and minibeasts have no skeleton!
In maths, we used the paint sticks to finish the coloured repeating pattern on the caterpillar. We also had fun using our 2D shapes to make ‘shape people’, adding arms and legs with the accordion‑fold technique.
Imagine the excitement as ‘live’ caterpillars arrived in class on Tuesday. Using magnifying glasses, we carefully looked very closely at how they move and eat! They are currently eating their food and are getting “bigger”, “fatter” and “longer” by the day. We wonder when they are going to build their cocoon!
Congratulations to Kit for achieving his Duckling Level 5- well done.
Our topic next week is Transport.
