Kindergarten

This week, we also introduced our Golden Rules, which help us to create a happy, safe, and respectful school environment: 

• We are gentle
  • We are kind and helpful
  • We listen
  • We work hard
  • We look after property
  • We are honest 

A copy of our Golden Rules poster has been placed in your child’s bag for you to share and discuss at home. Each rule is linked to a special story that we have enjoyed reading together, featuring characters such as Gino Giraffe, Zelda Zebra, Louis Lion, Elsa Elephant, Alfred Alligator, Mona Monkey, and Miss Beanie the Hippo. 

Alongside our Golden Rules, we have been talking about the importance of active listening. The children have been learning that good listening involves using both their ears and their eyes when friends and teachers are speaking. 

We were also excited to meet another dinosaur friend, Kindosaurus, who reminds us to use kind hands and kind words with everyone we meet. The children are doing a fantastic job of following his example by showing kindness to their friends and teachers each day. Whenever Kindosaurus spots a child being especially kind, they receive a special sticker to celebrate their wonderful friendship and teamwork skills. 

Next week, we are looking forward to beginning our new topic, The Little Red Hen, and all the exciting learning that will come with it.
