We have introduced the role of Class Helper – each day a child’s name is taken from an envelope and, if they want to, they can be the Class Helper for the day. The role involves the following: counting how many children are in class each day and serving the fruit at snack time. Additionally, they may be first in the line and are called upon to assist the teachers with daily tasks in Kindergarten.
We experienced our first music lessons with Miss Bee this week, learning a new song and matching the actions that accompany it.
Our Golden Rules have been introduced to the class, and these are as follows:
- Do Be Gentle.
- Do Be Kind and Helpful
- Do Listen to People
- Do Work Hard
- Do Look after Property
- Do Be Honest
So far, we have focused on ‘Do listen’ and ‘Do Look after Property’ in our circle times, talking about the need to use kind hands and to listen first time. In amongst these discussions, we have discussed the importance of sharing toys in Kindergarten.
Our topic next week is ‘Getting to know you’. Next week, please send in a photograph of your child and immediate family members; these photographs will be used as part of our weekly topic and used for a display within the classroom.
Finally, thank you for welcoming us so warmly into your homes over the last week. The home visits have been incredibly informative for us and hugely important in the settling into Kindergarten. Back in school there have been lots of conversations around ‘when you came to my house’ and we have also had several requests to come back! We would really value your feedback regarding your home visit – perhaps how you felt it went and how useful you felt it was to your as a family. If you would like to send feedback, please email me – a.hand@hamptonprep.org.uk
