Talking about the many different minibeasts that we may find in our garden or in the park, we found out that insects have 6 legs and minibeasts have no backbone!

We had fun painting an egg cartoon and adding details to transform them into models of caterpillars. Some of us decided to make the hungry caterpillar whilst others chose to paint them green like a real caterpillar.

Imagine the excitement as ‘live’ class caterpillars arrived on Monday. Using magnifying glasses, we carefully looked very closely at how they moved and climbed to the top of their enclosure, almost hanging upside down! They ate all of their food and got “bigger”, “fatter” and “longer” by the day. By Friday, they had all built their cocoons and next week we will move them into the butterfly enclosure.

There was a buzz of excitement on Thursday morning as we prepared to leave our classroom for the sports field to participate in the annual sports day. The children joined in with each of the three races with gusto and a beaming smile, which was sure evidence that great fun was had by all!

Our topic next week is Bees.
