We also had lots of fun creating our own poppies! Using split pins, we made paper poppies and designed beautiful stained-glass poppy windows, which are now proudly displayed. As part of our star challenge, we cut out different-sized poppies and arranged them in size order. We enjoyed playing with red playdough and even decorated biscuits by spreading red icing and adding a chocolate button in the centre to resemble a poppy. Additionally, we watched the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in London and joined in the two-minute silence at 11.00am.
During Anti-Bullying Week, we have been learning about the importance of showing kindness to others. Together, we discussed many ways to be kind, such as smiling, sharing and offering to help. The children came up with wonderful ideas about how we can be kind to our friends and families. Our dinosaur friends, Kindosaurus and Shareodactyl, reminded us to be just like them — by sharing and being kind to everyone around us. The children have been working hard to follow their advice and continue to practise listening carefully the first time.
Our topic next week will be The Gingerbread Man and Road Safety.
