The U11 Bs came away with a victory with a ‘Man of the Match’ performance from Luke Mills for the constant pressure he put on Benedict’s attacking line. Likewise, the U10 B and C team won with great performances from Tom Chivers and Kailen Sivakumaran. The U10 A match was tight, with a narrow victory to Benedict’s. The boys put in some heroic tackles and were always pressurising the opposition’s ruck. A ‘Man of the Match’ performance by Dushyant Parthiban resulted. The U11 As had a real learning experience in their game. It was a game of two halves. By their own admission they came off the bus slightly unfocussed and this was reflected in their performance, with a lack of going forward in attack or defence, or contesting at the ruck. It was 10-2 to St Benedict’s at half time and there were some glum faces. However, they turned it around, took the game by the scruff of the neck and started to play with more physicality. Although St Benedict’s won the game overall, the boys took heart in how they turned their performance around and outscored the opposition 8 tries to 3 in the second half. A great performance by Archie Skinner earned him ‘Man of the Match’. I look forward to seeing the boys take the lessons learned into their next game.
