The U9s seemed to have caught up on their sleep over the long weekend after their residential and were back in action on Tuesday against Newland House. The C team claimed a victory, congratulations to them. When batting, the A, B and C team were hampered by a lack of single runs to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Mr Blair and Mr Hopton will be working with them next week to improve the boys’ communication at the wicket and their understanding of when a single run is ‘on’.
The U11s hosted Claremont in their fixtures on Wednesday and put in performances all-round, with victories from A-D. The B team game was a dramatic affair with a close finish and a win of 7 runs. The A team put in their strongest so far this season. In bat, Ed, Kyle and Jesse scored 30,29 and 27, respectively and the team finished their 20 overs with a handsome score of 150 for 4. Claremont weathered the bowling attack but failed to reciprocate Hampton’s clinical approach and finished with 97 for 8. Next week the boys will be prepping for their Verney Cup Game against St Paul’s Juniors a week on Monday.
