The U9 A team had the pleasure of playing at Epsom College today for their U9 cricket tournament. It was a great set-up, ten school teams playing 40 minute, 7 over games made from some entertaining cricket. The boys started off with great energy in their first game against Broomwood School, stealing singles to reach a total of 36. A strong batting display to Broomwood to 37 with 5 balls remaining. Undeterred, the boys bounced back against Willington to win by 5 runs. Surbiton proved to be stronger opposition, bowling with great pace and accuracy, frustrating the boys efforts to reach a winning total. The last of the group game brought a defeat against Hornsby House. Placed 4th in the group the faced Banstead in their final game. The boys played with a much better level of assertiveness, gaining a haul of 65 runs and going on to win the game by 20. A great finish to a great day.
The Verney Cup continues Monday with the U11 As facing St Pauls Juniors (Away). We wish them the best of luck.
