Last weekend, Barnabas took part in in the National Skills Qualifying Diving Competition. Not only did he come 3rd overall and 1st in his region, but he also qualified for the National Skills Final in July. A terrific achievement! We look forward to hearing how he gets on later in the year.

On Monday, our U11 As travelled to St Pauls for the second round of the Verney Cup. Having won the toss, we elected to bowl first on a lively wicket. The boys bowled with good pace and St Paul’s ended their innings with a score of 103. It was Hampton Prep’s turn to bat but with a very attainable target ahead our progress was hampered somewhat by a sub-optimal run rate. Ten overs in and with a total of 40 runs on the board Jesse took the game by the scruff of the neck and pushed, pushed, pushed to chase down the target, setting the scene for a dramatic last over. It came down to the last ball, with 4 needed to win, but with the St Paul’s fielders defending the boundary it was a too big an ask and Hampton Prep lost out by only 2 runs. A shame, but we look forward to next year’s competition.
