The U11As reached the semi-finals and it was a nail biter against The Mall. Hampton Prep led until the Mall equalised in the last second of the game, forcing 4 aside, golden goal extra-time. Five minutes later, it was still 2-2 and it came to penalties to decide the winners. The Mall kept their cool and scored their three, putting them through to the final against Kings College Wimbledon. King’s had been outstanding all morning and, despite The Mall’s best efforts, again played great football to win, and retain the trophy for a second year.

The U11s have a chance for redemption today though as they travel to Aldenham School for the U11 regional round of the Independent Schools Football Association National Tournament. Hopes are high this year and we are keeping our fingers crossed; the group results have been positive. If they reach the finals they are through to the national finals at St George’s, England’s training centre later in the year.

The U10s played Claremont Fan Court School this week and put in some great performances to come home with a brace of wins. The boys are working hard to keep their shape on the field and play a patient passing game to open space in the defence. It is great to watch.

The U10As and U10Bs travelled to Kings College’s sports ground yesterday. The Bs were one of only a few B teams there but they put in outstanding effort to get through to the cup competition and come 7th overall, being knocked out to the eventual winners of the whole tournament, St Thomas’ Fulham. The As were, unfortunately, the team to lose to Thomas’ in the final but again, an excellent effort from them to get so far and come home with a medal.

Lots of the U8s were also in action against The Mall on Tuesday, with many of the boys enjoying their first fixture. They recorded some wins, had some fun and enjoyed their match tea. The U8As have headed to King’s today for the U8 tournament. I look forward to writing about the result next week.

Next week, Years 3, 4 and 5 are in action against either Surbiton or The Mall; good luck to them.
