The U9s have been particularly busy with two fixtures. On Tuesday, they faced Newland House in Carlisle Park. The As stormed to victory with some outstanding rugby, spreading the ball beautifully to score a number of excellent tries. In the Bs, Nicolas M demonstrated superb agility and strength to record a brace. It was a closely fought match, with Newland House snatching the win in the final minutes. The Cs and Ds both relished the contact element of the game and scored freely to take convincing wins.
There was also some tremendous rugby in the U10 and U11 matches against Bishopsgate. Not wanting to make things too easy for themselves, the U11As conceded four tries in the opening quarter; however, they showed great character to claw their way back into the contest, eventually crossing the try line in the dying moments to take a memorable win. Plaudits go to Barnes for his outstanding ruck work and to Jazz for his physicality around the park.
The U10s travelled to Bishopsgate with as much excitement about the match tea as the rugby! All teams demonstrated their quality, recording convincing victories. The As spread the ball superbly and used the full width of the pitch, with some cracking tackles in defence. Jasper once again showed excellent technique. The B, C and D teams all enjoyed strong performances, playing together with great cohesion.
A quick correction from last week’s House Cross Country: the Year 4 winner was Finlay M, with Luke finishing second.
