Last Friday, the U11As demonstrated their adaptability as they took part in the first round of the Surrey County Cricket Club Hardball Pairs Competition, The Geoff Richard’s Trophy. They travelled to Rokeby School for a round‑robin against Rokeby, Hurlingham Prep and Kew Green. With only two six‑ball overs per pair, the matches were fast‑paced and required accuracy with the ball and assertive running between the wickets. The boys demonstrated these skills superbly, recording comfortable wins against Hurlingham and Kew Green. In the final game against Rokeby, Hampton set a strong target, and although Rokeby threatened late on, some excellent bowling from Zach in the closing overs sealed the victory. The boys now progress to the quarter‑finals, with the opposition to be confirmed.

The U8s enjoyed their first away cricket fixtures of the term against Surbiton, played in the beautiful setting of Esher Cricket Club. It is a year group full of enthusiastic cricketers, and that enthusiasm was clear in every match. The As were particularly dominant, the Bs communicated brilliantly at the stumps to pick up plenty of singles, while both the Cs and Ds were involved in thrilling finishes, each decided in the final over.
