We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr McNulty, who delivered a compelling talk about his journey from university to working in a large corporation and eventually launching his own business. His insights into entrepreneurship, software development, and the importance of kindness in leadership sparked a lively Q&A session. The boys were particularly curious about the resilience required to start a business and how to build strong, supportive teams.
We were also thrilled to welcome Harriett Howard, a young professional in the field of data analysis. Harriett shared her path from A-levels into the world of big data, bringing her role to life with interactive dashboards she had prepared especially for the boys. Her engaging presentation helped demystify the complexities of data interpretation and thanks to a great question, we now know her favourite type of graph is a scatter graph (but she’s not a fan of donut charts!).
The event concluded with an inspiring presentation from Mrs Double, who spoke passionately about her career in sports coaching. From working with young athletes to Olympians and para-Olympians, her story was a powerful reminder of the value of following your passion. The boys asked a wide range of questions from “Have you won any races yourself?” (yes, she has, well done, Mrs Double!) to “What’s the worst part of your job?” (unsurprisingly, the admin!)
A special thank you to all our speakers for giving their time and sharing their journeys so generously.
