In art this week, we created exciting and colourful shape-collage rockets, each displaying our names. We counted the letters in our names and practised forming each letter correctly. On the tuff tray, we had lots of fun using hammers to tap pins into spooky pumpkins with precision, which really tested our fine motor skills!

In our phonics sessions, we have continued developing our blending skills and learning the correct formation of the letters /u/, /l/, and /f/. We also read the story Inside, Outside, Upside Down to explore positional language. The children enjoyed sharing ideas by placing a teddy and his owl friend in different positions using a basket with a lid and a box! It was lovely hearing them get creative with positional language, which they then used to describe their very own teddy pictures.

We have also been practising number recognition, formation, counting, ordering, and spotting missing numbers on number lines. On Friday, we learnt about the significance of wearing a poppy, and discussed the importance of Remembrance Day, thinking about those who lost their lives in wars. Each child printed a poppy with a balloon and made some of their own for a beautiful, reflective display in our classroom.

For the next two weeks, we’ll be learning about wild animals from around the world, animal conservation and zoos.
