We also enjoyed the story Stickman, another delightful tale by Julia Donaldson, and used it as inspiration for our story writing and crafting. We gathered a collection of sticks to create stick people and used various craft materials to give them fabulous makeovers, resulting in some wonderfully jazzy stick folk! Additionally, we listened to The First Christmas Story after enjoying Kindergarten’s enchanting dress rehearsal.
In phonics, we have been learning the digraphs ‘ee’ and ‘or,’ focusing carefully on words containing these sounds.
In maths this week, we explored ‘estimation,’ practising how to make sensible guesses and playing lots of fun estimation games. We also reviewed the concepts of one more and one less than a given number, using number fans and number lines to record our answers. Furthermore, we have been learning to say the days of the week and the months of the year in the correct order—be sure to test your child at home!
Next week, our topic will be… Christmas!
