On Tuesday, we had a fantastic time walking to Hampton Library. We met the librarians, who told us all about how the library works and explained that we can borrow books from there. We were amazed to learn that we can take out up to 30 books on our library card each time we visit! We explored the children’s section and chose books to share with our friends back in class.

The librarians then read us The Book Hospital by Leigh Hodgkinson. The story made us think about what it would be like to be a book! The best things about being a book are getting to spend time with your friends and telling amazing stories. But sometimes, a book can end up in the wrong place at the wrong time… it might get scribbled on, nibbled, or even lose its last and most important page! When that happens, it’s time to go to Book Hospital! This funny and engaging story was a wonderful celebration of books and the magic of reading. The librarians reminded us that when we love, care for, and read our books, they can take us on magical journeys we will never forget!

We were incredibly proud of the children’s excellent behaviour during our trip. It was lovely to be out in Hampton Village and Library, looking so smart in our uniforms. Well done, Reception!

In mathematics this week, we have been representing 9 and 10, as well as adding 1 and 2 to a number. We also had lots of fun creating patterns with Elmer the Elephant.

Next week, we will be thinking about our new topic, Weather & Gardening. We are especially looking forward to World Book Day on Thursday, when we will be dressing up as our favourite book characters, and our exciting visit to RHS Wisley on Friday.
